There are over 50 million blogs online now. Why should you have a blog?
1. To Establish Yourself as an Expert–Personal Branding
If you have a topic you know a lot about, you can write articles about your topic and over time establish yourself as an expert. People will turn to you and your blog as an authority in that subject area.
2. To Market or Promote Your Product or Service
If you have a product to promote, once you establish yourself as an expert in that area, people will be more likely to turn to you for product recommendations or to use your services.
3. To Connect With Like Minded People
As you write about your topic, you will attract readers with common interests. You can build a community this way. Commenting on blogs and joining online communities will help you connect with people and build relationships.
4. To Build a Readership
If your content is valuable, fresh and updated regularly, you will develop a readership of people who subscribe to your RSS feeds and mailing lists. Your readers will be a targeted market for your marketing campaigns.
5. To Help People
Blogs can be used to help people solve problems. Finding out those needs and writing articles that provide solutions can help people.
6. To Make Money
When you build a readership, you will be able to promote your products and services to your readers. You can also monetize your blog with advertisements with Google Adsense, Amazon, and other affiliate programs.
7. To Have Fun and Be Creative
A blog is a writer’s platform for having fun and being about to express creativity. Being able to share that creativity with others can bring a sense of joy and satisfaction for the blogger.

While I was visiting blogs today, I stumbled upon “The 7 Link Challenge” by Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.com. The idea is to publish a post that is a list of 7 links to posts that you and others have written that respond to the following 7 categories. (Thanks Terry Tiesson)
Since I love a challenge, here goes….
* My first post
I know I need to market online, but where do I start?
Now this isn’t exactly my first blog post, because when I first started blogging, I didn’t have a clue! Those first blogs I built in 2004 don’t even exist anymore. I used to use FREE sites like blogger and wordpress.com and I learned they can take down your content in a minute. I’ve abandoned some of my early works and I’ve had some of my blogs shut down. But, this link is to my first post that is still standing on one of my blogs called Internet Marketing for Blondes. It exists because I wised up and bought my own domain and hosting accounts.
* A post I enjoyed writing the most
How to Make “Kickin” Pimento Cheese in 5 Minutes
I enjoyed writing this post because I had a good time filming this cooking demonstration and doing something to help promote one of my favorite local farmers and our farmer’s market. What I like most in the video is the sound of the cheese sizzling after it comes out of the microwave. It’s down home fun and what we do in small towns in America on Saturdays. It’s from my blog, The Wellness Lady.
* A post which had a great discussion
The Wellness Lady is going it TRI again, Day 1
I wrote this post when I decided to train for an indoor triathlon at my gym. It seemed like it would be easy to do when I saw the training schedule… Anyway, getting great discussions on my blog is something I can see I need to work on. One of the strategies I have just started to become more disciplined in is commenting on other blogs.
* A post on someone else’s blog that I wish I’d written
It’s not so simple to narrow it down to one post that I wish I’d written, but I would like to say that I wish I had created the blog, The Social Media Examiner. I love all the posts and find the design and graphics to be fun and entertaining.
* My most helpful post
How to Set Up a Facebook Fan Page to Promote Your Home Based Business or Personal Brand
This post has received the most visits and revisits. I continue to share it with business owners who are just getting started with Facebook marketing and don’t know the difference between a profile page and a fan page.
* A post with a title I am proud of

Breakthrough Your Fears and Begin Video Marketing
I just made this video today and published it on my new website at CarlaClayton.com
The top internet marketers are now recommending a personally branded blog as a hub for all of your internet marketing activities. So, I’ve just started this blog and would like to develop readers here.
Comments on the 7 link challenge:
This exercise has taken me over an hour to complete, but I believe it has been valuable from the standpoint of evaluating my work, celebrating success and determining future goals for improvement.
If you are serious about blogging, take the challenge. Then, leave a comment here so I can read your posts too!
You know, it’s really interesting when you think
about how successful people most always were
just like everyone else when they first started
their journey…
But, somewhere along the way they DID certain
things that “everyone else” didn’t do – and ended
up creating their success as a result!
This guy Ty that I mentioned to you a few days
ago, is a prime example of a “wanna be online
marketer” who made some key decisions and
choices along the way…
http://ceomom.bloggingforprospects.com
And now he is one of the most successful mlm
bloggers in the WORLD! He can literally build
his network marketing business straight from
his blog 24/7.
The cool part about this, is that one of the top
network marketing experts, Ann Sieg – just got
Ty to spill his story AND his insights on how
to get massive leverage and results through
the proper use of a blog like he does…
So people like US can learn and copy his
amazingly effective strategies for our own
benefit!
Ann even got Ty to consent to letting a select
amount of people check out this underground
interview for FREE:
http://ceomom.bloggingforprospects.com
In this special interview, Ty Tribble shares how
a $14.95 decision he made hesitantly to start
his marketing – has now been transformed into
a solid six figure income for him!
Then he gives the steps YOU can take to do
this as well.
He also shares:
- How a network marketer who is new to the
internet, can establish an online presence
QUICKLY.
- How to consistently produce high quality
content for your blog, without having to be
a “writer”(or create your own stuff).
- The strategy he uses to get even MORE
qualified prospects to ANY blog or content
piece simply.
- The single MOST important blogging
activity you should do EVERY day to
obtain impressive results.
- And more “insider info”!
Like I said, this is stuff you would expect
to have to pony up and pay for…
But Ann and Ty are giving it away right now
to better help educate those who really
desire to create success and results in
their online marketing efforts.
You don’t have to ride the roller coaster of
online marketing insanity anymore like the
rest of the industry is doing…
You can go watch this interview right now
from this page:

…and get on the marketing express train
that leads QUICKLY to results!

Annabel Candy has written an excellent post on 7 things to make your blog the very best it can be. She researched A-list bloggers and found the common traits. Read her post at Problogger.com and do an analysis of your blog.
I really like the way she lays out the 7 signs and describes how you can make your blog better. I know I will be making some changes soon, too!
Another great resource is from Ty Tribble’s “Blogging for Prospects: A FREE video series.” I am watching these videos and am actually applying one of his techniques here on the post. Watch the video and see if you can identify the technique.
I’m not an internet marketing guru, but I follow
and learn from many experts out there like Ann Sieg of
The Renegade Networker. I’ve used her training and system for over
two years now and can say that she’s never let me down.
In a recent email, she shared with me that she has partnered with
Ty Tribble who will be releasing 3 FREE training videos on “Blogging
for Prospects.”
I don’t know if this is for you or not, but I am definitely going to be
watching closely.
Read this excerpt from Ann’s recent email:
Ty’s complimentary “Blogging For Prospects”
training videos come out Wednesday, June 9th!
Here’s a preview of what you can expect.
Ty Tribble
FREE ONLINE TRAINING DVD #1
Earlier this year, network marketers from
all over the world (United Kingdom, Australia,
Germany, New Zealand, and South Africa) paid
$1,297 to attend the Renegade Live Event.
In this video, you’ll get to watch Ty’s entire
1-hour presentation – seminar footage that nobody
else has seen except for high-paying customers.
You’ll learn a number of fresh new techniques
you can immediately apply to your business
(and your blog) to get better results.
When you watch this video, you’ll see why Ty
received a spontaneous standing ovation from
everyone before practically getting mobbed
by dozens of starry-eyed seminar attendees.
Ann talks with Ty
FREE ONLINE TRAINING DVD #2
In this video, you’ll get to watch as I back
Ty Tribble into a corner and bombard him with
question after business-building question.
If you’re a newbie, you’ll discover how you
can establish a web presence quickly – and
flourish – in what some network marketers
believe to be a saturated marketplace.
You’ll also learn how to consistently produce
high-quality “lead-generating” content for
your blog – even if you’re not a writer.
Plus, a number of other specific, actionable
strategies to help you start (and maintain)
a profitable blog for your home business.
Ty Tribble
FREE ONLINE TRAINING DVD #3
This video is by far the funniest and most
entertaining of them all! You’ll get to watch
as Ty takes his 8-year old son in for a haircut.
The reason?
He has to ditch the shaggy hair-do in order to
look his best for his “internet marketing debut!”
That’s right, this little up-and-comer steps in
front of the whiteboard and confidently explains
the “triangle of trust” method before eventually
handing things over to his dad.
Although it was a tough act to follow Ty reveals
how you can drive a year’s worth of traffic to
your blog in 30 days by using _____________.
Okay, having said that…
I’m NOT going to loosely promise that by watching
these videos you’ll instantly start earning a
six-figure income just because Ty does.
I’m also NOT going to suggest you’ll drive off in
a brand-new BMW or Porsche just like his teammates.
——————————————
But If You Could Use An Extra
$1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 A Month
——————————————
And much, much more for the rest of your life.
These training videos could be just what you need!
To Your Success,
Ann Sieg
